UPDATES

In October 2021, Deidre was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells. This led to spinal and rib fractures that impaired her ability to sculpt which requires sufficient back strength.  Once Deidre was given intense treatments and underwent a stem cell transplant she transitioned to painting.  Due to the cancer she is unable to breath in toxins that come with welding and with solvents.  Therefore she paints with water soluble acrylics and is pleased to be using color, texture, value, and perspective, on a two dimensional surface of a canvas to express herself.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Deidre seeks to explore and express the magic that is unique in three dimensional art. Her primary inspiration is her love and interest in the human form. She has created sculptures in stone, wood, metal, and clay utilizing representational, stylized, and abstracted art forms. Sculpting is the best way for her to share her ideas, emotions, and affirmation of our shared human experience.
